Writers' Guidelines
Thank you for your interest in writing for Coffee Break for Writers. We provide content for new and experienced writers around the globe. Before sending your ideas or submissions, we ask that you read and follow our writers' guidelines, as well as study the current content on our website. If you do that, it will increase your chances of acceptance.
We're seeking unique articles (500-1,000 words) about the writing or publishing industry. Topics we're currently in need of and will be more likely to accept are:
Photo-taking tips for writers who submit photos with their articles for additional payment.
Writing for blogs and marketing fiction books and/or writing services with your own blog.
Writing for the Web, as well as articles on writing SEO content.
Articles with tips on how to market your writing services or fiction book through social networks (Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, etc.).
An article explaining how to get self-published or print on demand books onto the shelves of bookstores. Interview bookstores to help you write this article.

Articles on pitching radio shows to promote a fiction novel. The article should include information such as who to address and send your pitch to, how to pitch your idea, tips for increasing your chance on landing the interview and etc.. The article must also include a sample pitch to a radio show.
We can't pay as much as we'd like but would at least like to be able to pay you something for your hard work. With that said, we offer $15, along with a byline and bio, for original articles and $10 for reprints. If your article is a reprint, we should not find the previously published article all over the Internet. A few places on the Web is fine, we just don't want to find it everywhere. Also keep in mind, we don't pay for articles that are a part of articles directories or offered to editors as free reprints. We're happy to publish articles that are offered as a free reprint, but we won't pay for them since you've offered them free.
Payment for accepted articles will be made within 30 days after publication. We try to pay one week after publication, but this isn't a guarantee. Therefore, if you don't receive payment within one week after publication, then payment will be sent no later than 30 days after your article has been published. We pay through Paypal and in U.S. currency only.
When including your bio at the end of the article, please keep it under 50 words and include a maximum of two links to your book(s) or a writing-related website or blog.
Coffee Break for Writers buys one-time rights and will publish your article on this website for a minimum of one year. If, after one year, you'd like your article removed from Coffee Break for Writers, contact us and we'll be glad to honor your request. If your submission is accepted, you'll be notified via e-mail. At that time, we'll let you know the date we plan to publish your piece. We try to respond to all queries and submissions but can't guarantee a response if we don't accept your pitch or article.
Feel free to submit query letters, outlines or complete manuscripts. Attachments in PDF format are accepted, but all other attachments will be deleted. We also accept plain text in the body of an e-mail, and we ask that you make sure your text is "plain," with no formatting codes. To ensure your submission is "plain text," go to the options menu in your e-mail program and specify plain text. If you're copy and pasting from Microsoft Word, copy and paste your text into Notepad first, and then copy and paste the text from Notepad into the body of your e-mail. Furthermore, put a blank line between paragraphs so we know where a new paragraph begins.
When you send your pitch or submission, mention if the piece is a reprint, and if it is, let us know when and where the piece was published (include all electronic and print publications).
Coffee Break for Writers reserves the right to edit all submissions for grammar and spelling mistakes. In addition, we reserve the right to reject submissions full of grammar and/or spelling mistakes, as well as for any other reason.
